Farktography: Pink

Happy New Year!  I realized I could do the Farktography contest this week, Pink.  Description:  Photos emphasizing the color pink.  Funny, I seem to remember a Scavenger Hunt that had Pink as one of the things to find.  Entire archive dive for this one, meaning that I didn't shoot anything new or with this contest in mind.

The scavenger hunt (March 2012) is why I shot this one.  I considered this as an entry for that hunt, but opted for the flower one below.  This is a bath poof.

Apple blossom buds.  They start out pink.  When they first blossom, they might have a pink tinge on the ends of the petals, but by the time they are in full bloom and the petals fall off, the petals are entirely white.

I had to re-edit this one to be within Farktography guidelines.  The difference between this one and the Scavenger Hunt one is I color popped the flower in the Hunt, turning the background to black/white.  As that effect wasn't done in camera, I couldn't leave it for Farktography.

So there's my venture back into Farktography.  I'm still not sure what of the next few scheduled contests I will participate in, if any, but I will do something.  After this post, I have some of our Christmas at home, and then some of the kitties and others of Chance.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you liked the pictures.  Leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

Christmas Fun at Grandma and Grandpa's

This is sort of like last year's Thanksmas, but a few days later.

This is a puzzle my Mom had put in the toys box for the grandkids.  I remember her having this at least when I was in Junior High.  I also remember having to figure it out all over again whenever I found it.  Here, Alex found it.  And it stumped him.  Completely took his concentration for a long time.

The Grand Kids discovered the piano.  Again.

Chance for a bit went from end to end to play a few keys.

Then he squished his way in the middle.  All three played at the same time.

I love how it looks like they were collaborating.  More like they were just trying to outdo each other.

Chance seems to especially like it, but Soph is almost pushing him out of the way.

Giving pointers, obviously.

Atrus is back.  He's giving a hug to Sophia.  He loves giving hugs.

He's still working on the puzzle.  He got the sticky note pad and is attempting to math it out.

Why is this not working?!?!  (He did eventually get it.)

The tree!  Mom and Dad did a great job decorating it.  I wish I could have properly captured the glow with the lights.

Movie Time!  I believe the movie was Peter Pan.

Chance is hanging out with Auntie Hillary. :)

Piano time again.

Dad stopped in with Chance and Sophia came back.

Dinner!  Yum Yum!  Cornish Hens.  A tradition.

Reading time.

Now Chance wants to read, too.

Grandma reads with all three grandkids!

Present Time!

Time to play with the bows.  Sophia says that one goes on Chance's shirt right THERE.

Goofy Grandpa!  Chance giggled the whole time!

I like this book!  Thanks Grandma!

This is going to be fun!

Grandma and Grandpa unwrap theirs from Alex and I. :D  Not saying what it is...

But they should have fun!  Aren't they sweet!

I love the size of the box compared with him.  It dwarfs him, but he doesn't care!

Merry Christmas Hillary and Joe, Love Alex and Elise.  We love you and hope it helps.

Atrus with a new game.  It is actually quite fun.

That's the extent of the pictures I got on this day.  The kids had fun, and fell asleep on the way home, which is always a sign of having been worn out.

Next post:  Farktography, my first contest posting of the year, and in a couple months.

Christmas Cards

I thought I'd share the possibilities I came up with when planning our Christmas cards this year, and then ultimately what was decided on.  I ordered these in early December from +Mpix and they were printed and sent really fast!  They came out awesome this year.

So here are the 6 runners up:

Husband's idea was to use Snoopy and Charlie Brown this year.  Turned out to be somewhat difficult to get a good shot, but I managed to get a couple.

This was last year's card.  This my favorite ornament ever.  It must go up on the tree every year.  My Dad got this for me one year.  He and Mom stopped in some Christmas shop somewhere in the Midwest when they were out there a few years ago and he selected this one for me.  It just makes me happy.  I know it wasn't going to be the card this year, but it became my desktop background and it I wanted another picture anyway.

A solo Snoopy picture.  Those who know me know that Snoopy is my absolute most favorite character ever.

Another okay one of Charlie Brown and his dog, Snoopy.

I dug through last year's shots to see if anything would be worth it.  I wasn't that impressed with my shots from last year, and this was one of the better ones.  I liked the lights and the presents, but it is still just meh.

Didn't really say "Christmas," but winter.  This was some frost on my car earlier this year.

And here's the one I went with.  It went on a 4x8 photo card with a dark green background that said Merry Christmas.  We put on them:  May you always have extra food in your bowl and a friend by your side.

A wild hair crossed my brain earlier this year and I decided to drastically expand my Christmas card list.  Christmas is, after all, my favorite holiday.  Instead of sending cards to 10 to 15 people, I gave out 48.  I sent some to coworkers and some to fellow Farkers I've become friends with over the past year.  I hope I was able to spread some Christmas cheer.

Next post is another Christmas one (only 3 Christmas posts this year, and I know its January, but so what), and will be the pictures from taking the boys down to Grandma and Grandpa's for a slightly early Christmas there.  After that will be the Christmas at our house, and then back to other pictures after that (which I have to take).

So, Happy (late) Christmas and New Year.  May 2013 bring more blessings and less heartache than the year previous.
